Decorative Artist - Lorna Townsend

Lorna is an experienced artist working primarily in the decorative paint finishes field. While undertaking commissions for paint effects such as colourwashing, dragging and marbling, Lorna specialises in hand painting furniture and in the design and painting of murals and trompe l'oeil.

On a smaller scale, Lorna paints panels and pictures to commission. Some completed work can be purchased direct from Lorna - see the For Sale page.

Originally a textile designer after gaining a BA degree in Textiles and English, Lorna established her interior decoration business in 1990. She has undertaken work for private and commercial clients locally in the Oxfordshire / Buckinghamshire area and both nationally and internationally. Lorna has work together with interior designers and related businesses, including Paint Magic and PrimeDesigns, for their clients on decoration projects.

Teaching

In 1995 Lorna completed a City & Guilds course in Interior Decoration. Her work was deemed to be of such high quality that she achieved one of only two Medals of Excellence awarded in the UK that year for the subject.

Subsequently Lorna has taught for the City & Guilds Interior Decoration course at Amersham & Wycombe College, Bucks and Rycotewood College, Thame, Oxfordshire. A number of her pupils have themselves been awarded Medals of Excellence for the high standard of their work achieved during their course.

Lorna, a qualified teacher, continues to teach at a number of local colleges as well as arranging private courses on a wide variety of decorative techniques - for the current list of courses see the page on Course Information.
