Murals and Trompe l'Oeil - Kitchen Mural

Trompe l'oeil arch and landscape in the kitchen

The scene is continued in the corridor

An internet and international commission. My first design work undertaken over the internet without having seen the site. The kitchen is in Italy and the client a friend who had moved back to her native country. The client, measured and draw the wall to be decorated and sent the drawing and inspirational material via email to me. In turn I draw out the wall to scale and then a number of possible trompe l'oeil designs based on the references sent to me, from there we discussed and modified the design using email. All that was left to do was to fly to Italy with all the scale drawings and any elements drawn to full scale, paints and brushes and do the painting.

The scene turned a large blank wall into an atmospheric backdrop for a family kitchen. The mural was continued in to the corridor running from the kitchen to the hall, additional climbing plants were added to the archway and the hat painted in the corridor between the doors, the first section of wall seen as you enter the kitchen.

A painted hat adds interest and a vocal point to the wall opposite the mural
